The weekend of the 28th to the 30th July, 2006, saw the second annual camping weekend of the Sharpness and District Silver Band. The campsite was Croft Farm Waterpark at Bredons Hardwick, near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, and the campers gathered on the Friday afternoon.

The Andersons, Bodenhams, Palmers, Sparrows (now known as the Swallows), Taits and Wieldings made camp (or just parked their caravans!) on a glorious afternoon.

The waterpark boasts a fabulous kidney bowl lake in which residents are allowed to swim, windsurf, canoe, yacht or just paddle, and although it is of a reasonable size, the depth is no more than five feet deep at any point. Whilst we were there a triathlon event took place with 100 or so participants swimming, running and cycling rather too early on the Sunday morning!
I'll huff and I'll puff...   Boating   The Lake
Saturday night was the social gathering - where non-campers come and visit and partake in the merriment - the stuffing of faces and the quaffing of alcopops, 10-pence-a-bottle beer and sparkling wine. This year was soup and a finger-buffet, and there was plenty to go round. (And if anyone has seen my orange beaker, please hand it back!!)
The Grub   The Chef
The weekend was excellent all round - the weather stayed dry... mainly... and there were quite a few people going home with better suntans than they came with! The site was ideal, having everything essential within a minutes' walk, a pub within walking distance and Tewkesbury town centre less than five minutes away!
It's Raining!   The Sky   Swingball
For next year, we are going to introduce a theme to the event and it had already been decided that all attendees need to wear their loudest shirt (prizes may be awarded...!). We would like to see more families take part, either as campers or caravaners, or as socialites on the Saturday night. The event is open to all members of the Band, playing, non-playing and regular guests. Anyone interested in joining us or offering suggestions should contact a member of the committee.
Loud Shirts a must!
